What's Included

What a Kitchen Remodel With Us Actually Covers

A kitchen remodel from Galvez Construction typically includes custom cabinetry built for your exact layout, new countertops and backsplash, updated lighting and electrical for appliances and task areas, and — if the layout is changing — the plumbing and structural work to support it. Our own crew handles electrical and plumbing directly, so there's no separate subcontractor to schedule around mid-project.

Layout Options

Which Kitchen Layout Fits Your Space

The right layout depends on your kitchen's footprint and how you actually use it — here's what each option is generally suited for.

Galley

Two parallel counters with a walkway between them. Efficient for smaller footprints where every step matters — everything stays within close reach.

L-Shaped

Counters along two adjacent walls, opening the rest of the room. A common choice when a kitchen also needs to fit a dining area.

U-Shaped

Counters along three walls for maximum storage and counter space. Works well in larger kitchens where the extra enclosure doesn't feel cramped.

Island

A freestanding counter adds workspace, seating, or storage without walling off the room. Needs enough clearance on all sides to stay functional, not just decorative.

Open-Concept

The kitchen flows directly into the living or dining space, often built around removing a non-structural wall. The most requested layout change in whole-kitchen remodels.

Not sure which fits? We'll walk your actual space during the home visit and tell you honestly what will and won't work before any design decisions are made.

Cabinets

Built for Your Kitchen, Not Resized From Stock

Every cabinet is custom-built for your kitchen's actual layout — corner space, island depth, and appliance clearances included — rather than adjusted from a standard size. Shaker-style is our most requested door profile, though the final look is built around what fits your kitchen and your taste, not a default we push on every job.

Materials That Hold Up to Daily Use

Quartz, granite, and laminate each trade off differently on cost, maintenance, and heat resistance — we'll walk through what actually fits your budget and how the kitchen gets used. Tile is sourced from a range of manufacturers, including Emser and Daltile, so the backsplash matches the room instead of whatever one supplier has in stock.

Lighting & Electrical

Task, Ambient, and Accent — Handled Together

A kitchen usually needs three kinds of lighting working together: task lighting over counters and the sink, ambient lighting for the room overall, and accent lighting for cabinets or a backsplash. Getting the layout right means planning it alongside the cabinet and appliance layout, not adding it afterward. Our own crew handles the electrical work directly — new circuits for appliances, under-cabinet lighting, updated switches — so it's coordinated with the rest of the remodel instead of scheduled as a separate job.

The Process

What Actually Happens During a Kitchen Remodel

01

Home Visit & Layout Discussion

We measure the actual space and talk through layout options, cabinet style, and material choices — including whether your appliances are staying or changing, since that affects electrical and plumbing placement.

02

Binding Written Quote

A fixed price and timeline in writing, including cabinet lead times — custom cabinetry typically takes longer to arrive than the rest of the work takes to complete, so we build the schedule around that up front.

03

Demo, Electrical & Plumbing

Old cabinets and surfaces come out, then any new circuits or plumbing moves happen before new cabinetry goes in.

04

Cabinets, Counters & Finish Work

Cabinets are installed, countertops templated and set, backsplash tiled, and lighting finished — with a walkthrough before final payment.

Most kitchens aren't usable for cooking during the demo-through-cabinet-install phase — we'll talk through a realistic timeline for your specific project during the home visit rather than guess at it here.

Common Questions

Questions About Kitchen Remodeling

Can I still use my kitchen during the remodel?
Partially, early on — but once cabinets and counters come out, you'll need a temporary setup elsewhere in the house until new cabinetry is installed. We'll walk through a realistic timeline for your specific project during the home visit.
What cabinet styles do you offer?
Shaker-style is our most requested door profile, and every cabinet is custom-built for your kitchen's layout — corner space, island depth, and appliance clearances included — rather than adjusted from stock sizing.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
It depends on scope, but custom cabinet lead times are usually the longest single factor — often longer than the rest of the installation work combined. We build your quote's timeline around the real lead time for whatever you choose, not a generic estimate.
Do you handle the electrical for new appliances or lighting?
Yes — our own crew handles kitchen electrical directly, including new circuits for appliances and under-cabinet or accent lighting, coordinated with the rest of the remodel.
What's the difference between an open-concept and a closed kitchen remodel?
Open-concept generally means removing a wall between the kitchen and an adjacent living or dining space — the most requested layout change we see. Whether it's possible depends on whether that wall is load-bearing, which we assess during the home visit.
Do you offer a written quote, or just a verbal estimate?
Every kitchen remodel gets a binding written quote after an in-person visit — the number in writing is the number on the final invoice, including cabinet costs once you've chosen a style.
